End of Stamp Duty holiday looms

First-time buyers must act now if they are to complete before the Stamp Duty holiday cut-off date on the 24th March.

The Stamp Duty holiday provides first-time buyers with the opportunity to purchase a property up to the value of £250,000 without paying any Stamp Duty Land Tax. Purchases must complete before midnight on the 24th March in order to qualify for the exemption otherwise the tax will revert back to the previous rate of 1% and first-time buyers will be liable for the charge.

Alex Dixon, director and branch manager at Sutton Kersh Allerton & South Liverpool commented;

“The scheme has been available to first-time buyers for the last two years. We urge anyone that is in a position to take advantage of the tax exemption to contact us now with their requirements in order to complete before the cut-off date on 24th March 2012.”
