Liverpool auction house to be TV star

BBC One's Homes Under the Hammer came to Liverpool this month to film Sutton Kersh’s February property auction.

A Merseyside property auction house is set to appear on TV later this year.

BBC One’s Homes Under the Hammer came to Liverpool this month to film Sutton Kersh’s February property auction.

Sutton Kersh Associate Director Cathy Holt said: “We are delighted that Homes Under the Hammer filmed at one of our auctions. We had a great lot catalogue on the day they were shooting and the auction attendance was one of the largest we’ve seen!

“As well as a full auction house there were 40 proxy bids made over the telephone. The auction raised £4.3 million and over 80 properties were sold!”

Highlights of the auction include:

  • Lot 1, a two-bedroomed property in Kensington, sold for £115,000; £50,000 more than its guide price
  • Lot 3, a former wedding chapel in Garston, sold for £100,000.
  • Lot 48, a middle terrace property on Holmes Street, sold for double its guide price for £40,000.
  • Lot 56, a four-bedroom property in Kensington, sold for £120,000.
  • Lot 64, a parcel of land in Liverpool and the surprise result of the auction, sold for three times its original guide price for £106,000.

The production team at Homes Under the Hammer said: “It’s been a while since the show came to Merseyside. Liverpool is a city rich in culture with many fantastic buildings and Sutton Kersh provided an exciting auction which will help make a great programme!”

Presented by Lucy Alexander, Martin Roberts and Dion Dublin, Homes Under the Hammer is a series which follows buyers from auction to completed renovation.

Sutton Kersh’s next action will be held on the 29th March at The Crowne Plaza, Liverpool. For more information, visit www.suttonkersh.co.uk/auctions or call 0151 207 6315.
