Sutton Kersh Auctions Hold Liverpool's First Online Property Auction

Sutton Kersh Auctions held Liverpool's first online property auction on Thursday 2nd April, finishing on Friday 3rd April.

Despite the uncertainty in the economy and the property market at this present time due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there was still a considerable amount of interest and demand from individuals, investors and developers at last week’s auction.

Cathy Holt, Associate Director at Sutton Kersh Auctions, said ‘as the crisis unfolded we faced uncertain times and tough decisions; do we pull the auction and let our vendors down, or can we pull off a safe and successful online auction? We put the feelers out to our clients and staff and were overwhelmed with the response and the support we received to take it online. We also sold a high number of properties prior to the auction, showing the demand was still strong.’

The auction team at Sutton Kersh all worked from home in the run up to last week’s auction. They worked with their business partners around the clock to make it happen within a short space of time and it proved to be a huge success.

Sutton Kersh Auctions saw over 200 people register to bid and went on to sell over 50 properties within the 24 hours the auction was live, totalling over £4.9million sales, with more still being finalised.

Lots offered were a mixture of commercial and residential opportunities, and featured plots of land as well as move-in ready houses throughout Merseyside and its surrounding areas.

This auction featured the iconic Penny Lane Wine Bar, which generated a lot of interest and sold prior to auction. During the online auction there were two stand-out properties. Lot 69 was three x 3 storey mid-terraced properties in Bootle that have been converted into self contained apartments and it received over 70 bids.

The showstopper was Lot 84, which was a Grade II listed 5 storey Georgian mid town house on the highly desirable Hope Street, which sold after attracting over 150 bids!

Their next auction will take place on 21st May and will be streamed live online and hosted by auctioneer, Andrew Binstock. If you are looking for a quick property sale they are currently taking instructions for their May auction now!
